During this time of Christmas celebration, it occurs to me to remind everyone that not all Christmases are merry this time of year. I say this not to drag spirits down, but to lift them up in prayer, kind thoughts and actions, and giving to those who are less fortunate.
“Less fortunate” is usually seen as those without money or shelter or food, but there are those who are going through grief and others who deal with depression and/or addiction. These need our company and remembrance.
A few minutes of time to stop and encourage can mean the world to someone who needs just that.
- Smile and wish a Happy Holiday to everyone you see.
- Compliment them.
- Hug your loved ones and let them know how much they mean to you.
- Offer a helping hand.
- CALL new and old friends. Our voices mean so much more than a text.
It does not matter whether you believe in Christ, celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or do not celebrate this time of year.
It is amazing how giving of ourselves gives to our own spirits.
May your celebrations and end of the year be merry and bright and continue to be so for the years to come!
Merry Christmas to all!
