Out For a Drive

She apologized for the verbal offense.

it was an offense she had not intended-

as offensive.

She promised she would not say such a thing again.

She meant it.

Her friend would not forgive her faux pas.

As she got out of the car

She was called back.

Give me my gum.

She was chewing it.

I want my gum back.

Fine

She said

She put it into her palm

Formed a ball

And stuck it right in the middle

Of her former friend’s forehead

She was getting too old for this.

And gum was bad for her teeth.
